I am a costume designer/dressmaker/seamstress. I am originally from Long
Island, NY and except for 2 years in Los Angeles in the late '90s, I have lived
in New Orleans since 1993. I design and make clothes and costumes for both
performers and regular people. A lot of my designs are influenced by 19th and
mid-20th century silhouettes, though I can make almost anything from any era.
I love working with a range of different fabrics, from expensive silks and
luxurious gold-thread brocades to expensive Italian linen and silly vintage
cotton prints. I worked in the music business for many years, for a blues record
label, a music publisher, in a recording studio, as a producer and director of
live radio broadcasts, as a music supervisor for film and tv and as a film sound
editor. Even though I loved it and it broke my heart to so drastically change
paths, I love sewing and designing more. I share a studio with designer/artist
Ellen Macomber (elmdesigns.net) at Studio Inferno in the Bywater
neighborhood of New Orleans.
