These were made for a local performance at the Contemporary Arts Center.

The piece was choreographed by Maritza Mercado and performed by her

husband Jay with Jina. Jay's cumberbund/tails were made from shirt sleeves

and Jina's costume was made from silk bought in San Francisco. I couldn't help

myself so I added about 200 rhinestones to these costumes. The imagery I had

to design from was a penguin and a mermaid. We wanted a hat for Jay but

couldn't figure out how it would stay on gracefully with all the movement in the

piece. I wish I had video and better pictures. This performance was hauntingly

beautiful.
